Moose are among my favorite photo subjects, but they are one of the most dangerous. Like many animal mothers, moose moms (cows) are very protective of their offspring. Further, as I can personally attest, getting too close to a bull moose during the rut is particularly perilous. A few years ago, I was charged by a bull moose and narrowly escaped by ducking into a small thicket of trees too dense for his large antlers to penetrate. Both cows and bulls are very large and very fast. If they get agitated they won't hesitate to charge.
